Exclamation Mixed review of iSilo for WebOS

I finally "meta-doctored" my Pre 2 to get it up to WebOS 2.1 (just so that I can run iSilo native). Just got tired of waiting for Verizon to release the update. It took about 4 hours.

First thing I did was buy iSilo for WebOS.... .-D

It runs smoothly and looks good on the screen. The file list options, fonts, etc. all work as advertised.

    However..... .-(

Two big bugs I've found so far.

    1) the hyperlinks from other books to exact verses in the Holy Bible RcV don't work right (they worked fine in the PalmOS version). They will open the Bible, but not go to the verse; just to where ever it was when it was closed last. And a back gesture will not go back to the other book; it just goes back to whatever the previous move was within the Bible.
    2) Sometimes, after switching to another card and back, the bottom third of the screen will stop moving and only the top 2/3 (the square area that used to move in Classic) will scroll. You have to close the app and restart it to recover.

One annoying thing, but probably not a bug: when you open the app, it always goes to the file list instead of back to where you were when you closed, like it did in the PalmOS version.

Having used iSilo for several hours/day last week, I can add more detail to #2 above: it also sometimes reduces the size of the text in a way that makes it unreadable altogether.

    In addition,
    3) iSilo caused a Luna Restart (not as bad as a full reboot, but annoying nonetheless) at least a couple times each day.

It seems like the folks at iSilo are spending all their time doing multiple updates for other platforms, while they just ported the old PalmOS version into WebOS without really spending the time to make it work right. This is very disappointing.

Added to all that....I got an HP Touchpad, running WebOS 3.0, hoping to see my books on the bigger screen, but iSilo didn't download from my profile and doesn't even show in the App Catalog.

Would you be able to provide us with one of the books that links to the Holy Bible RcV as well as the Holy Bible RcV file so that we can reproduce the problem to determine the cause? You can zip the two files together and email it to . Please also provide instructions on a specific example link to click to reproduce the problem.

We have not reproduced the problem, but when it does happen, try closing the document and then re-opening it instead of closing the app.

If you have any specific steps that can be used to consistently reproduce this problem, please let us know.

You are correct that it is not a bug.

There is currently no version of iSilo for the HP Touchpad, which is why it is not in the Touchpad App Catalog.

    Arrow Received

We received the sample files and have reproduced the external document linking problem. We will get the issue fixed and in an update within a couple of weeks.

We have still not been able to reproduce the other two problems.

Regarding a Touchpad version, we do not expect anything within the next couple of months at least. We could potentially enable the current webOS version in the Touchpad App Catalog, but it would only run as a small screen app and not be able to take advantage of the full screen of the Touchpad. However, we are hesitant to do that, as users will likely complain about it.

I would rather have the small screen and be able to use it, than not have it at all (but only after you've fixed these bugs).

Post Update with external linking issue fixed

The update that has the fix for the external document linking issue is now available in the App Catalog. It is version 5.27.0. Please give it a try when you get the chance.

Thanks for your quick work fixing that bug. The external hyperlinks linking to RcV Bible verses work correctly now. .-)

Default v. 5.27.0 still has other problems

After a couple days of using the new version, I've had it do that 1/4 frozen screen thing a couple times (not as often as before, but still there).

It has also reset once and once it locked the device completely, so that I had to do a key-combo reset (I've never seen this happen since I've owned the device and it was while I was in iSilo, so I'm assuming iSilo was responsible, but I'm willing to concede that it may have been a coincidence until it happens again).

    Unhappy Categories function buggy

Besides the bugs that I already reported when using iSilo on my Pre 2 (resets every once in a while, at least 5 times in a two hour meeting yesterday. And the weird split screen thing, which happens even more often), I found a couple serious bugs related to categories.

After loading a couple dozen books onto my Pre, I attempted to categorize them. After copying the books to the device from my computer and opening iSilo, all the books are, of course, in the "uncategorized" category. After selecting the category function (resting my finger on the book and waiting for the popup, etc.) and selecting the category, so the blue check mark is in that box, I do a back gesture and it takes me back to the "uncategorized" list.

Bug #1) But the book is still there (on PalmOS it would have disappeared immediately, because it's no longer uncategorized).
So I do another Back gesture to take me back to the list of categories and pick "uncategorized" again. This seems to be the only way to refresh the list.

More serious Bug #2) There are one of three results of my category assignment; a) the document moves where I intended less than half the time, b) the document doesn't move anywhere and is still in "uncategorized", or c) the document moves to a different category than I assigned.

This is really unacceptable. It took me two or sometimes three times to get the documents where they belonged. I sort of gave up and left some uncategorized. I need this fixed, because I have a couple hundred books I want to put on the device and I won't have time to reassign them two or three times each. It's really frustrating.

    Arrow Refresh

We are looking into the problems you describe and we believe the two problems are the result of the same bug whereby the list does not get updated after a categorization change. So the workaround should be to use the Refresh command (Menu/List/Refresh) in the menu to refresh the list after each category change that you make.
