    Default Further Enhancements to Annotations

This is specifically relating to the "Comments" support in Annotations.

    1) So you enter the Comments field and start editing, then you finish editing - there is no way to get rid of the keyboard and choose a highlight color. If you try clicking on the Highlight bar it gets hidden by another bar. It would be great if the keyboard would close when you exit (onBlur) the comments field.

    2) All the display options for Comments are very short. For example I put in a comment that is three sentences long. When I hover on the annotation inside the document the popup comment is cut short. So then I go "View/Edit" the annotation - and the visible part of the comment in the field is even shorter! I understand that the field size cannot change much, but it would be great if the popup comment in the document itself could be much longer - especially as there is so much screen realestate to work with.

Hope these help. As you can tell I am really working the Annotations on the iPhone - I cannot wait to work with them on the iPad as well.

    Arrow Done

When the edit field is active and the keyboard is visible, there is a Done button in the upper right. To dismiss the keyboard, tap the Done button in the upper right.

We will take your comments about the length of the popup annotation into consideration.

Ahh yes, I didn't notice the "Delete" button changing to a "Done" - very subtle.

    Thanks for the update.

Another option would be that when Viewing an existing comment that the Comment field expands to fit the full comment - I can always scroll down to change the highlighting, which is a very unlikely scenario for an existing annotation.

Also regarding the "Delete" button changing to "Done" - maybe the button should change colour as well, which will make it more obvious that it changed.

    Just some ideas :-)

    A further comment

The popup link for "[View/Edit] [Delete]" feels like it pops up in a very awkward location under the finger - you can't really see it. It would perhaps be a nicer experience if it came up above the finger instead?

In fact in an ideal world it would be great if it showed a black menubar similar to the native popup for "Cut / Copy / Paste".

There is a new version of iSilo in the Apple app store that adds iPad compatibility. It is a universal app which means you do not need to buy it all over again if you have the previous iPhone version.

    Default Enabling annotation on iPad

I haven't used annotations before, but think it would provide a very useful capability. I'm puzzled how to enable it on the iPad version? I can't see a way, for my document, to enable select mode (like some of the documentation on the website mentions).

When I press the "More (3 dots)" button, under "Edit" it shows "Annotations" grayed out. When I select "Annotation Settings" and try to "Select file" it shows me that no annotations files exist: yet it doesn't provide a way to create a new one.

How does one create a new (empty) annotation file so that annotations (presumably) become enabled?

If this is covered by documentation on the website, I've been unable to locate it--at least any that describes what I'm seeing on the iPad version (v. 5.16).

    Thanks!

    Arrow Point Assist

In the manual, go to the Read View section, then the Point Assist section. You first select the text, then after selecting the text, commands will appear to allow you do something with the selected text. One of the commands is Annotate.

Default Support for option of adding tags to annotations

It would be nice to support an option of adding a tag to annotations. These tags will help organize the annotations into categories and will also be a great help in searching. For example, I may want to tag some annotations as "thoughts", others as "ideas", "questions", "errata", "formatting", "realizations" etc.

Also, it would nice to support an option to enable search for matches in the annotations in addition to the iSilo document itself. One could search through document only, annotations only or both document and associated annotation file. These ideas should go a long way towards major enhancement of user experience of the Annotations feature.

    Thank you very much!
