Default Creating a new iSilo Doc

    Hi there,

I would like to convert this website for use in iSilo on my Palm:

    https://www.bcponline.org

I am having a dickens of a time getting the settings correct (expecially with margins and padding). To be more specific, how can I adjust the setting in iSiloX do that my iSilo doc can mirror the appearance and margins of this web-based edition of The Book Of Common Prayer? Further, what I'd like to accomplish is the end document will match the text placement so that, no matter how large I set the font in iSilo, the text areas are where they should be as their margins dictate. For an example, look at the section for "Holy Eucharist Rite Two."

Could someone please recommend the proper settings.

    Thank you.

    Arrow breaks

You would need to modify the HTML source. If you take a look at the HTML source for that page, you will notice that the publisher/writer added breaks (<br> tag) after each line. When you view this on a screen less wide than the intended presentation, the text will reflow in a messy manner. It is best to not add <br> tags in an attemp to give each line a specific length so that the text reflows smoothly regardless of screen size.

So, no matter how iSiloX settings are tweaked, I won't be able to replicate the indents/margins or text flow correctly or am I missing a step?

A screenshot or picture of a specific example that is not converting the way you would like would help us answer your question.

    Tell you what,

Since I have tried over sixteen (Yes, over sixteen) different combinations, would you like if I were to send you the four iSilo master docs I've configured?

    Arrow Screenshots

No, please do not send your combinations. Please post a screenshot of how you think the content should look (e.g., from the webpage) and a screenshot of how it appears in iSilo in your best combination. Then specifically point out the differences that you believe do not seem right in iSilo.

Default Here's the way it looks

Hi there, these screenshots are taken directly from the bcponline.org website

I hope these can help you understand the text formatting/indentation/margins elements I'm trying to duplicate.

    Thanks

    Arrow Comparison

Please compare what you have above with what you get with iSilo when you convert with the default options and point out the specific differences that concern you.

    Default Default options help

    Hi again,

I'm creating a new iSiloX doc from the original defaults. I'll let you know the results.

    Arrow Few that matter

The only options that probably matter are:
    • Tables: Set to Process table formatting with all Options unchecked
    • Margins: Keep all left and right margins/padding
