    Default Blackberry Beta Update

    Just downloaded and started using a 156mb iSilo DB. Initial impressions:
    1. Finally! iSilo for Blackberry is fantastic!
    2. Navigation appears to be a little slow compared to the Pocket PC that I'm used to using.
    3. Found that using the trackball, when you "roll" right you go into select mode and to get out of it you need to push escape and then you go into "scroll" mode. Up and down but if you go right you're in select mode.

    These are merely initial impressions after 10 minutes of use with only 1 DB. If any are interested I will post more info tomorrow.

    Again, iSilo for Blackberry, FANTASTIC!

    Arrow Java

    Please be aware that BlackBerry is a Java-based platform, so things will be at least a few times slower than on a platform that supports native applications, such as Pocket PCs.

    By default, Right on the trackball is set up to enter hyperlink mode. Press the Escape key to exit hyperlink mode. This is all described in detail in the manual. The rationale behind setting up Right to enter hyperlink mode is that BlackBerry's do not use touchscreens, so you can not tap a link. Note that you can assign different actions to the keys and trackball through Menu/Edit/Options/Button.

    Default

    It all makes sense now. I've been working with it today and it's working great. I'll just have to get used the slight delay. So far no "real" bugs.

    I've looked through the manual and it explains everything clearly.

    Great job once again!

    Default Working on BB 8320?

    Hi, is this beta available for the BB 8320 ? I'm trying to install it in but I get an error of "no application designed for your device" at the application manager

    -UPDATE-
    Ok, I've got it working!
    Partially following the instructions of this page, I've decompressed the zip packed cod file, one-by-one created a jad file for every .cod on the program, copied it all in the sd card, and one-by-one installed'em. (This can be put in just one .jad for sure, but in my BB all my tries had failed).

    Yes, the beta should work fine on the 8320 Curve.

    Arrow Try this

    Using a plaintext editor such as notepad, open the iSilo.alx file and change the line that reads
    Code:
    <fileset Java="1.28">
    to
    Code:
    <fileset>
    , then try installing again. Please let us know whether that works or not.

    Default Installed the Beta- Problems

    I installed the Beta on an 8320 using the Desktop Manager. No problems. I was puzzled with the earlier comment about converting into .jad files as the formats are correct for install with the Desktop Manager. However, it only showed me the full features for a moment. Now it says I am on day 1 of the trial, but most features are not available in free mode. So I can't check the operation of my file with heavily uses links. Any ideas?

    Arrow Unusual

    It sounds unusual that you are on day 1 but it jumped to free mode. Try the following:

    1. In iSilo's document list view, go to the menu and click Options.
    2. In the Options dialog, click Mode.
    3. Assuming the "Free Mode" settings says "Enable". Change it to Disable.
    4. Press the Escape key and click Save.

    Default Working better

    Thanks. That solved the free problem. The program seems largely very usable. The search routine is ponderously slow. I understand the interpreted nature of Java, but is there any way to speed up that function?

    Also, find and find again are multiple levels deep. Are there any keyboard shortcuts defined or planned so that you can access those faster?

    Great job so far and I am sure that this will be a successful product.
