Can anyone tell me how to select text on iPad with iSilo? I touch the screen, and the magnifying glass appears, and sometimes it allows me to select text, but most often it doesn't. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

I think you have to activate the Select mode by click the little icon with the papers one beyond an other from the toolbox then you can select. Also you could try to double tap and then without lifting your finger drag it over the text.
After the magnifying glass appears, keep holding down for another second and the center of the circle should then have a vertical line indicating that you can set the start point of the text you want to select. When the center of the circle is over the start point of the text you want to select, lift your finger, then put it down again and move the center of the circle over the end point of the text you want to select. Lift your finger, then you will be able to choose whether you want to Copy or Annotate the selected text.
I have an Android phone and I'm having the same issue. Sometimes tapping and holding works, but usually it does not. I have tried holding it longer
(10 seconds) and changing the tapping action to none, one, two or three. I always get the magnifying glass, but the line does not usually show up. I am not sure if I have a setting that is off. I did not understand Tailwind's instructions.
The key is to hold your finger down without moving, so holding down for more than a few seconds will not make a difference if you have moved your finger. You just need to hold your finger steady for two seconds. You say that you get the magnifying glass with the single dot, so that means that you have held your finger steady for at least a second. When you see the magnifying glass with the single dot, continue holding without moving your finger for another second and the single dot should now have a line through it to indicate that you can move your finger to the first character of the text you want to select.
O.k, I tried that and it works. Next question. How do I callibrate the screen so that where my finger lands is where I start the text. Mine is probably about 3 lines off when I place my finger. Thank you so much for your quick response.![]()
Note that the magnifying circle shows the content under the point on the screen that your finger touches, not the content directly under the magnifying circle. The magnifying circle is offset from your finger so that you can see what is under your finger.
hi, I have read this topic and followed the advice above but once you touch the second time and get the magnifier with double dot cursor you cannot move the end selection. It will not allow any movement.
I am using iPad version 6.06
This looks like a bug to me. I have extensively tested.
When you touch down to set the endpoint of the selection, do not lift your finger. You need to continue holding down as you move your finger to set the endpoint of the selection. When you lift your finger, then the endpoint is set and you get the context menu with the Copy/Annotate commands.
Hi, thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, you are right. If you wait long enough the selection finally moves. This is a very slow and awkward process. Please consider a revision. There must be a simpler way to initiate selecting text. Is the iPad inbuilt method accessible? Maybe even a selection button like we had in the Windows Mobile version.
This is my only annoyance with iSilo on iPad. I think it is a great product but this issue causes frustration everyday as I use the selection function a lot.
