Automation of Registration Numbers

So far Isilo seems to cover just about all the mobile devices on the market.

I intend to publish material for such devices but to prevent unwanted copying I am looking for some means of automating the generation of UserIDs.

There are a number of different routes I could take.
a. A separate program that takes as command line parameters; document ID, user name, expiry date, and return a serial number, userid, password etc. That information then could be sent by email back to the user.

b. A back end web script that does exactly the same thing from say PayPal IPN info.

Does anyone have any suggestions about this?

With regard to automatically generating registration codes, your only option is to utilize the document registration code service. You can find out more about this on the publishers (http://www.isilo.com/support/publishers/index.htm) page. Note that this service only provides for generating the registration code and that you still need to setup all other aspects of your system yourself, from customer information input, to payment processing, to customer emails, etc.
