Question from a colleague that I couldn't answer:

Is iSilo compatible with the Microsoft Mobile Media Operating System?

Microsoft Mobile Media Operating System is unfamiliar. Would you by any chance have any links to descriptions of it?

I'm not sure what it is exactly either. On the Microsoft website, they have a section on "Windows Mobile" (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx) which seems to encompass PocketPC's, portable media devices, and smartphones. iSilo on PocketPC is a given. I don't think anyone cares about iSilo on a portable media device. I guess I could refine the question to ask, "Can iSilo run on Windows Mobile-based smartphones?" Some of the smartphones listed include:

HP iPAQ h6315
HP iPAQ h6340
Siemens SX66
Audiovox SMT 5600
Motorola MPx220
Orange SPV C500

The name Windows Mobile is going to get even more confusing going forward. Microsoft is deprecating the future use of the names Pocket PC, Smartphone, etc., and calling everything Windows Mobile (which is synonymous with Windows CE), even though software for the one Windows Mobile platforms is for all practical purposes incompatible with another Windows Mobile platform.

The HP iPAQ h6315 and HP iPAQ h6340 run the Pocket PC version of Windows Mobile. The MPx220 runs the Smartphone version of Windows Mobile. For Pocket PC versions of Windows Mobile, you would use "iSilo for Pocket PC". For Smartphone versions of Windows Mobile, you would use "iSilo for Windows Mobile Smartphone". You need to be very careful about the distinction here when it comes to phone PDAs running the Pocket PC version of Windows Mobile. Specifically, a consumer who owns a phone PDA that runs the Pocket PC version of Windows Mobile may think that he is running Windows Mobile Smartphone (note the capital 'S' in smartphone), when in fact he is not.

Confusing is right! I anticipate a fair number of problems from people getting mixed up between these closely named but distinct products. It sounds like iSilo has all the bases covered though which is excellent.
