View Full Version : Having an issue converting a site that used to work.

Good Afternoon All.

I'm hoping that someone can help me with a sudden issue. I have an .ixl file that contains about 30 channels and I open it everyday and the different channels are scheduled to convert on different days or times and all was well with the world.

One of my channels I have scheduled to convert once a month. It's a big file (around 8MB), but it's e-books and a certain happiness is achieved. Lately, it's been giving me an "Error" when I'm trying to convert it, but I haven't changed anything settings-wise. I'm hoping that I can post the channel for diagnosis and if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

P.S. I just got an error message that told me that the .ixl format is not do-able, so I'll type in the address and settings for people to re-create my dilemma.

East Of The Web (http://www.short-stories.co.uk) with a link depth of 2 (off-site links included) going to my handheld memory and 8-bit images. I usually takes a number of minutes (I have it set to convert at 4am when I'm not online so that my computer can just handle it normally.) I'd appreciate any help. Maybe the site itself has changed and iSiloX cannot deal with the changes? Maybe they don't want people iSilo-ing their pages?

The site looks pretty straightforward. I do not see any immediate problems...

Posting the .ixl file would be ideal. Unfortunately, you must zip the file before attaching it in these forums.

What version of iSiloX do you have? Version 4.15 fixed an error where the entire conversion would fail if even one of the image files was not valid; perhaps this is what you are seeing?

Thanks for the input Voltage Spike. I've now zipped the .ixl and it should be attached to this post forthwith.

I'm using iSiloX (4.15) for Mac OS X (10.3.7). It worked flawlessly for many months, but all of a sudden it decided to give me an error.

I await your suggestions.

Voltage Spike: You might've seen the other thread where I talked about the differences in iSiloX between two computers running the same OS, but I'm trying iSiloX on my laptop [OS X 10.3.7, 1.5 GHz, 1 GB RAM] and it appears to be crunching away at the offending .IXL file.

I'm wondering how the same program can have conversion issues on two computers both running OS X [10.3.7]. Any ideas?

...it got the error message, too. There has to be something wrong with the channel or something. What do you think?

After some investigation, the issue has to deal with buggy handling in iSiloX for an HTML file that specifies both frames and a refresh of the page via a meta tag. The issue will be fixed for the next update.

The workaround for your specific scenario is to add a URL filter for http://LitLinks.cjb.net. To do this, go to the Properties for the entry you created in iSiloX for conversion, go to the Links properties, and click URL Filters. In the URL Filters dialog, click Add Exclusion Filter. In the URL Filter dialog, select Wildcard for the type and enter LitLinks.cjb.net for the pattern, then click Add. Click OK to the other dialogs to accept the changes and reconvert.

Your filter suggestion worked right nicely. I've just finished converting the file and it's a healthy 7.8 MB's of e-story goodness. Thanks for the input.

I've looked over the Properties that I don't use much wondering if I might get all gung-ho and delve super-deeply into the iSiloX world, but I'm unsure of that which I do not understand. I guess I'll keep finding new sites that have problems so that I can learn more about the exciting capabilities of the program.

Thanks again for everything.
