I am using a SONY CLIE with a registered 4.01 and yesterday I upgrade to 4.15. (what a big mistake)
I find the interface has changed.
All the file in the Memory Stick categories information are lost (I have more than 60 files).
I re-categorize it one-by-one and it seems OK. When I pull the Memory Stick out and re-plug it in again, some files remain in the category but some does not.
Now it is all mass up.
Spend another 20 minutes do it again same problem.....
What is the best practice or recommended way to categorize file in memory sticks ?

It may be that you are exceeding the initial default database size limit, which is set at 100K. To increase the limit, do this:
Go to the Options menu and tap Document List.
In the Document List Options dialog, increase the Settings selection to 250K.
Tap OK.
If it still seems that documents are losing their categories, try increasing the settings limit to the next step.
If you are categorizing many files, it may be helpful to set the icon action to Quick categorize, by doing this:
Go to the Options menu and tap Icons.
In the Document List Icon Options dialog, under Icon action, set the File setting to Quick categorize.
Tap OK.
After doing the above, tapping the icon to the left of a file entry in the list brings up the list of categories so that you can quickly place the document into one of the categories. See the manual for additional details on the way this works.

Thanks. I try it out and my problem seems to be fixed.
Let me do a couple more tests and see how it works.
I think I need to do more RTFM.
Is that the on-line HTML the only manual ?

The manual is included in the zip or installation package along with iSilo. You can also find an HTML version of it on the iSilo.com site from the support page.

Since there is a danger of 'losing' category settings (when you exceed the limit), why not:
1. Have an "unlimited" option under settings.
2. Have an option to auto create folders & subfolders within the expansion card based on category settings.
This way, there is no danger of losing your categorization efforts. I just hate having to worry about messing up my categorization settings each time I add a new document to iSilo!
I would actually prefer option #2 as that is the most permanent method. However, the problem arises with documents that have multiple categories. (Perhaps a seperate subfolder "Multiple" might solve the problem.)

If you do not have a multiple-categorization problem, then setting the Default Category (http://isilox.com/support/manual/iSiloX/ReferenceManual/DocumentProperties/Document.htm) (i.e., store a category in the document) will always prevent such a loss.

What about the 500+ exisiting ones?

I have the same problem on Palm T3.
Categories that I assign to documents are lost frequently. Typically it happens after refreshing the list due to new documents uploaded to device or renaming/copying documents. Every day I have to reassign categories to some 10+ documents because they become "Uncategorized".
I tried to increase memory limit for settings, but it didn't fix anything (no wonder, since I only have about ~30 documents and 100K should be more than enough for all settings).
I also tried to delete settings database and re-categorize everything, but the bug didn't go away. Is there a solution?

The problem about losing category markers is not limited to files on a memory stiock or memory card. It applies to files in the primary memory of a Palm as well. Here are some other things I notice:
- Over time, more and more files lose category bits, and end up in the Uncategorized folder.
- It _may_ happen when tapping on the X to close a file that I am reading. That goes back to a display of the files in the category, and it is sometimes then that one or more of them disappears. (However, it can happen to ones in OTHER categories as well.) The screen seems to flicker or display more than once when this happens, if that is a clue to at least one case in which the problem occurs.
I a using 4.26 (the latest released version).
PS -- I'll try increasing the database size, but I have only between 10 and 20 documents. I am getting the sense that something else is going on here.

I have more info on the categorization problem.
My Tungsten T3 suffered fatal crash (not relevant to iSilo) that caused a corruption of Saved_Preferences.pdb. So I had to delete Saved_Preferences.pdb from backup to be able to restore my data.
Unfortunately, deleting Saved_Preferences.pdb meant that all user preferences on handheld are lost. But it also had interesting side-effect: all document categories in iSilo magically restored! All documents are back from Uncategorized to their assigned categories!
I hope this info will help to diagnose the problem. Please, please, please fix it because it is a biggest annoyance in otherwise excellent product.
