Hello,
I have installed iSiloX 4.15 on my desktop machine (WinXP Pro SP2). I then modified most of my scheduled iSilo jobs to add the date to the title (Title text \Xdate; - as well as trying with various format codes following \Xdate?M2-D2; ). None of my attempts have actually created documents with the dynamic data in them; they all show up in iSilo on my Palm as Title Text _Xdate_M2-D2;
What am I doing wrong here? I did npt have any of the beta releases of iSilo/iSiloX installed this go round.

Thanks,
Scott

Would you be able to post a sample .ixl file with at least one entry you created that uses the dynamic title components so that we can check it?

I will do that as soon as I get home, and have access to my .ixl files.

Attached is a snippet from my main .ixl. I have tried this one by itself, and it exhibits the problem. I have added the .txt extension for upload purposes.

It might not help much, but I would like to point out that the document works as expected when using iSiloXC for Mac OS X and file destination.

Your example worked fine under "iSiloX for Windows" as well. Double-check that you do indeed have version 4.15 installed by going to iSiloX's Help menu and clicking "About iSiloX".

About iSiloX claims I'm running 4.15. Still no dice on getting the dynamic pieces working.
I will uninstall iSiloX this evening when I get home and reinstall. (In the past, I have only ever installed over the existing install).

I have totally removed the installed version of iSiloX from my PC. Removed any trace of iSiloX from the registry. Removed the scheduled jobs from the task scheduler and made sure there were no stray iSiloX files anywhere on my hard drive. I then rebooted, and reinstalled iSiloX from a freshly downloaded 4.15 installer file. I loaded up the sample .ixl I previously uploaded, and upon conversion had the same results - no dynamic data in my file name.
I am running on Windows XP Pro SP2. I'm not a coputer-illiterate individual having been in the computer field for over 20 years.
I'd be appy to entertain any other thoughts on getting this issue resolved.
If you need any more information on my setup, please let me know.

After some further investigation, it turns out that when you queue a file for installation to external media, the internal title does get the correct title with the dynamic components evaluated, but the file name under which the document is created gets the unevaluated title. A fix for this issue will need to be incorporated into the next update.

If you need a workaround for the time being, you can set up a folder destination, with the folder being the iSiloI directory within the directory named similar to your user name within the directory where you installed the Palm Desktop software (e.g., c:\Program Files\Palm Desktop\HotSyncName\iSiloI, where HotSyncName is your HotSync name).

Got that working under isiloxc for windows 4.15

made slight change.
removed hotsync entry and made it a files entry
<FILES>
<Path>c:\progra~1\handsp~1\Ro\isiloi\</Path>
</FILES>
Worked a treat.

Thanks for the workaround; I'll give that a shot for the few documents that I'd like to try this with - but will most likely just wait for the update.

Thanks again,
Scott

Quite a while back, in reply to someone else, you said you were hoping to fix the issue where dynamic file names are not being handled properly when the file is sent to external media:

I've just started trying to use dynamic file titles and have run into the same problem. Unfortunately, the files in question are too big to go to internal memory. I have version 4.29 of iSiloX and 4.29 of iSilo. Is a fix still on the horizon?

The fix was incorporated into version 4.2 over a year ago now, so if you are seeing an issue with dynamic titles, it is likely a different issue. Would you be able to post a .ixl file with a title that does not work?
