I use ISILO 4.1 registered on Sony Clie PEG NX60 with MS 128 MB and CF card 512 MB and 4739K free internal memory.
Since CLie does not support CF cards native I use CF magic 2.0 registered from http://www.pdascent.com/ to acces the CF card.

My ISILO files are both on the MS and the CF card, not in the internal memory.

1. Sometimes (I can not reproduce it) ISILO freezes. After soft reset everything works but all my categories are gone and the standard categories are back (personal, business etc). I did use the delete special option-delete settings database to try to fix this, but it remains the same.

2. Sometimes the dialog box 'updating list' keeps endless coming up. After an 'update' is finished the dialog box disappears but almost immedialtely reappears and starts 'updating ' again .... and again ... and again ...

Please advice.

If CF magic has implemented its VFS interface correctly, then there should be no issues with iSilo or any other applications accessing the CF card. PalmSource developed a standard interface for application access to memory cards (e.g., VFS interface) and that is what iSilo uses.

One thing you could try that might workaround the issue you are experiencing is to turn auto-categorization off (Options menu/Document List/Auto-cat/Off).

Putting auto cat 'off' prevents from freezing and prevents endless updating list however ......

Although files on the CF card are categorized and you can find them in a specified categorie listing they all appear also in the uncategorized file listing ...

When you perform an 'information' on a file in the uncategorized file listing the file belongs to no categorie. If you do the same when listing a specified categorie the same file do belongs to a categorie (categorie boxes are checked) ...

Any idee ???

Did you by any chance rename the card at any point? If so, then it is possible that the files you categorized before renaming the card will also appear in [Uncategorized], as iSilo uses the name of the card to help differentiate two same named files that may reside on two different cards.

I gave the Sony memory stick 128 mb only once a name and never changed it.

I never gave a name to the scandisk CF 512 MB card, it appears as [card2] in the 'device and storage cards' tab in the isilo program.

Somehow I think the problem is related to the settings database .... I have deleted manualy in clie files the file _isiloDocSettings... and started to categorize again my files

I will let you know if this helped ...

A file is on Sony Memory Stick. Categorize this file.

Now 'Move' this file to another card (for example CF card) using a file handling program (I use clie files).

Now this file appears in uncategorized ....
AND
also in the specified categorie listing ....

That would make sense then.

The file was originally categorized before moving, so iSilo has an entry for it in its document settings database. After moving the file with the file manager, iSilo still has the entry for the moved document. When you go to the category in which the document belongs, iSilo can not find the document on the original card, so it looks for the same document on another card and finds it on the other card. Now when you go to the uncategorized listing, iSilo sees the document on the new card, but it does not have an entry for it on the new card. It still has the entry for the document on the old card, so it thinks it is uncategorized.

When you move things around with an outside file manager, iSilo is not involved, so it can not update its settings database appropriately. For moving documents around, it is best to do it within iSilo if you can.

There is no workaround to the issue now, but probably in a future update, there will be a "synchronize list" command.
