I'm using iSilo version 4.0.1. on (ahem ahem cough) an M125. I opened it during lunch today. In the category in which it opened, I used Synchronize list (maybe that was a mistake) and then Refresh list. When only a few of the documents I knew I had in that category displayed, I knew I must have done something wrong. :o I pushed the SD card (64 mb) in and out (or rather out and back in) to make sure it was reading the card. Still, only the documents stored on the Palm were displaying.

I checked all the categories, and for all categories, only documents stored on the actual Palm were displaying. But under All, all the bloody documents showed up. I used Refresh list to make sure they were really there. I opened one of the docs to make sure they were really there.

Then, I checked Unfiled, which should only have a few documents, and ALL the bloody "missing" documents were there!

I'm trying to figure out if I did something wrong or if there is something wrong with the card. (I did have problems recently with a PalmReader document not opening correctly, and Fictionwise.com's tech support said it sounded like the card might be corrupt -- but other documents on the same card were fine, and when I downloaded and reinstalled the file, it opened again without any problems.)

Oh, well. If it's time for a new card, this gives me an excuse to buy a BIGGER card.

When you use the Synchronize list command, iSilo goes through each external document entry and checks to see whether the given document is present. If the document is not present, iSilo removes the entry along with its settings, such as the category.

So at the time you used that command, either the card was not present or if it was there was a problem in accessing the files on the card.

Whoops! :o Note to self: Make sure the card is properly inserted before using Synchronize list.

Oh, well. At least re-categorizing oodles of documents is far easier on iSilo than on any other Palm doc reader I've used so far.

Well, I disagree - at least for the time being (unless someone has THE trick),
I think that re-categorizing documents is a quite tedious job.

Mind you, I love the new feature of categories and sub-categories, but
I preferred the old (e.g. in ISilo 4.01) "categorize mode".
Now it's tap the icon (no, further left - opened the doc again ... back and
retry), select Categories from the pop-up menu, scroll down in the
category list, click the right one and OK.

Takes quite some taps ...

While I'm on the topic of categories - is it possible to re-order them, e.g.
making a subcategory a top level category, or attach it to a different
top category? I found I frequently had to re-type categories because
I made a mistake in the planning phase (planning? ;-)

So, any tricks?

Regards,
Walter

The current Beta of iSilo allows you to change the icon behavior to immediately open the categorize screen.

(The developers can't do much about your tapping accuracy, though. :) )

Is it possible, or if not would love to see the ability to categorize several ebooks at the same time as some authors have 50 books, doing all at once would save a lot of tapping
Thanks Terry
