I have successfully installed iSilo 4.05 on my Tungsten E. My computer uses MAC OS 10.2.6. I down loaded the following documents to my desktop: a memoware iSilo3, a memoware DOC, and a .txt. When I try to load these to my PDA via the HotSync, the documents in each case have a sec card (none installed on my unit) destination indicated and do not upload. How do I get documents to my PDA? There appears to be no iSilo documentation that describes this process, suggesting it should be very straightforward.
Thanks,
DaveT

You should be able to install the iSilo and Doc files directly to your device using HotSync in the same manner that you would install an application .prc file to your device. It's as straightforward as that.

For a .txt file, you would need to copy it to a card unless you convert it first.

Not sure if I understand correctly. What do you mean by a sec card destination? Are you attempting to use iSiloX to install the files you downloaded from Memoware?

The straight forward method does not work: I dragged the memoware document into the palm desktop hotsync intaller. At that point the destination listed in the installer becomes sec---d (I assume for SecureDigital). I do not have a SD card in my Tungsten E and I had no intention of placing the document on a card. I am apparently unable, or don't know how, to change the destination. I have, however, downloaded iSiloX and successfully transferred a text file to the PDA. Thanks again for any help.

Note that if you drag the plain text file directly, the behavior you describe will possibly happen.

For the iSilo3 and Doc files, did you make sure to unzip them first? After unzipping they should have either a .pdb or .prc extension. Do they? Assuming they do, they should install the same way that you installed the iSilo reader application.

The documents from Memoware came through as www.memoware.com, rather than a readable extension. Memoware says that if I have IE as the browser, I made need to use Netscape or Safari instead to download their material. I'm currently using IE on my MAC and have no desire to change. Consequently I'll find my documents from another source.

I sucessfully downloaded iSilo3 and DOC documents to my MAC using Safari. The downloading with IE remained unsuccesful after updating IE to IE 5.2.3 for MAC (most recent version available).
