Hello Brothers,

You must first visit the link below to find out what is required to get the wtlib files. Once you fulfill the requirements then someone will arrange with you to get the files for your device. Please do not try to get around the arrangement. This is the arrangement that the organization has requested and if we do not follow it then we will loose the ability to do this in the future.

Go here first and follow the directions:

I have registered and got approved from the link on this site. I downloaded the iSilo program to my Blackberry. However, no one has responded that has the program so that I can download it to my phone. I am a MS and my wife is a Reg. Pio. and I thought this program would be good to have on our phones. I have been trying for months and I get a lot of emails, but no one has the program files. I don't know what to do. Can you assist me.

Thanks

Has anyone installed the isilo & wtlib softwares for the blackberry storm and it works?

You can not copy the watchtower library to your device as the files are encrypted. You must use an iSilo formated file in order to get the watchtower library running on your device. If there is an iSilo version for your device then you can get it working.

To answer your question yes there is an iSilo version for the Blackberry and it works fine.

Just a note about the yahoo user group mentioned above. That has closed down and is no longer available. Please visit www.meekspace.com for further help.

I go to the website, (tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/wtpub2008) and I sign in with my Yahoo ID but all it says, is: "Sorry, this group is available to members ONLY. You are not allowed access to this group."
There is no link to apply for membership. What gives? How do I even apply for access????

Yeah, you go to www.meekspace.com, create a user account and you still can't get the files. Still no help!!!! It seems like, "oh we've got the files on our device, too bad for you"
Thanks for nothing.

If you bothered to read the instructions on the site and take a look at the forum, you'll see that it very clearly tells you that the site doesn't contain the files, it's a means of getting in contact with those who DO have them. You also have to verify that you do own the CD-Rom in the first place, to respect copyright laws.

Please try to support this very generous arrangement rather than just criticising because something isn't handed to you on a plate.

It does not wok because it is for Mobile Windows not Blackberry.

iSilo does not work with the original files but only with a set of converted files.

So ask around your area for someone with the iSilo formatted Wtpub files.

This is absolutlely re-frickin-diculous. EDIT THIS POST!!! After jumping through hoops and doing handstsands to sign up for the silly and stupid yahoo group and waiting for some "verification" to join the priviledged echelons of this sacred and secretive group.... I read down and see that the yahoo group is no longer the secret handshake way of joining the secret, verified, cloak and dagger world of iSilo on my PDA.

Them I have to go thru the process of joining this silly and dated forum just to tell you to EDIT YOUR POST and remove the link to the defunct yahoo group --- come on, man... if you're gonna appoint yourself the gatekeeper and administrator, then actually do your job and quit making ot so difficult!!

I'm gonna join this other "meekspace" mumbo-jumbo... but, I gotta tell ya', my patience is wearing thin. If this is another dead end... Well, that's actually what I'm expecting.

The insanity of you, yourself, making a post stating that the yahoo group is dead and then actually leaving the post there... LAZY!

We, as a people, follow instructions. When the post reads, "You must first visit the link below..." Well, that's what we do. Then we're sitting around like fools waiting for a verification that will never come only to find out the secret handshake maestro of the locked door was too lazy to EDIT HIS POST.

Are we breaking into Fort Knox? Am I gonna be asked to knock three times and ask for Joe? Do I need to be wearing a trenchcoat and sign up for this in the dark of night? Are you gonna need a blood sample? Seriously, get over yourself and the awkward games of verifications, passwords, user names, and all of that garbage.

The folks making WtPub have done exactly that. Now the only approved way to obtain a copy is by direct in person transfer.

So ask around in your local area for someone with a copy of the files.

Or get a Mobile Windows based device and use the official Mobile Watchtower Library that comes on the cdrom from the WTB&TS.

Hi Patrick! Do you know any way I could find out who has the files in my area? I was previously one of the main contacts in my area and I have received many emails and calls from people asking me about the WTPubs since I got it for them last year. But I got them from a brother on an FTP download and this time I have asked everyone I know to ask with no one knowing anymore than I.

I checked the meekspace thing out but didn't find any info in the forum about people in various areas as was advertised. I also searched the messages of previous groups trying to get some direction, but to no avail. If I could get a copy, I have dozens of contacts who I could distribute WTPubs to them by hand and they could do the same.

Any help would be appreciated.

i just purchased and downloaded the iSilo program to my Bb Curve. The version was updated from trial version. Where do we go from here to get WTL for 2009 to the device?

Does anyone have a clear, precise answer?

I have expended way too much time on this exercise.

In order to continue to obtain permission to create these files the brothers and sisters doing so agreed to no longer distribute them on the internet. The only way to obtain a copy is to locate someone in your area with the files.

T-tools stopped sharing in distributing these files in December 2007. In 2008 and 2009 the WtPub folks had their own Yahoogroups. They closed these groups December 2009.

So at this time you need to start asking around locally to find someone nearby that has the files.

IF YOU ALREADY KNOW SOMEONE USING THE LIBRARY ON A NON WINDOWS PHONE ask them if they are using the iSilo formatted WtPub files. IF they are those are the same files you need. The files are the same regardless of platform, it is the program that changes, there being different versions of iSilo for the different platforms.

A group to help you find other PDA using JWs in your area may or may not be of help in your quest.

From looking at the postings on this I gather that Jehovah's spirit isn't blessing this effort...make of that what you will but I think I'll wait for the society to readily come out with a mobile phone version for the iPhone before I start tinkering with cracking files and such...for the time being I can look up the info on my home computer and send it to my phone through email or get myself a small netbook which supports windows and therefore supports wtlibrary which wouldn't be too cumbersome I guess to have in service between rvs.would it be nice to have this? Absolutely and when it's essential we can be assured that Jehovah will not hold back in giving it to us...until then...

get myself a small netbook which supports windows and therefore supports wtlibrary ...

Get an older Pocket PC PDA (iPaq 4700 or 210 series have VGA screens) and run the Official Mobile Watchtower Library on it.

It took me a few days to copy the whole Bible into .doc file extension onto my Nokia 5800. I was also able to put the Daily Text, Reasoning Book, and few other books that we were either studying at the Congregation Book Study or were relevant to the ministry.

I recommend doing this if you think it will help further your kingdom interests, and you have the time for it.

I created one document for each chapter in the Bible, (painstaking I know), and then categorised them into to a folder for each of the Bible Books, and then I was able to view them easily with a document viewer.

Just an idea to try.... :D

Hi,
I'm reading as much as I could, but I can see I'm still not understanding what I have to do.
I purchased iSilo for Android, installed and registered it. I put the WTLib Mobile files in the iSilo file as I had the phone connected via USB to my PC. It only opens up to computer gibberish. Are there any sympathetic brothers out there to help me out of this dilemma??:p

Thanks!

iSilo does NOT work with the files off the official cd-rom. You need to find someone in your local area with the already made for iSilo WtPub2009 files.

So what we all need is either a way to convert the .pub files of the library into .pdb files that can be read by iSilo or a Reader that could read the original .pub files on all our mobile devices. What i do not clearly understand is, why there is no guide available for converting the .pub files into .pdb files while every witness could do this on his own with his copy of the WTlibs RS_Data and - what is most important - could do this again next year when a new WTlib is available.

I also have the Android system, I am using the Droid X. Have you tried downloading it off of your phones internet? I have done it successfully both ways, through the computer and the internet on the phone. On my phone it is in the documents folder on my sdcard \Documents\iSilo and then I have the files in this directory. What phone do you have?

What i do not clearly understand is, why there is no guide available for converting the .pub files into .pdb files

Because it is highly complex and requires hundreds of hours of processing time just to create a single beta.

The guide would run to several hundred pages and require mid level computer programing skills. Please NOTE not users skills but programmer skills.

Hi, just to update everyone..
Meekspace has all the files you need and more.
The brothers there ask a few simple questions to verify you are currently a witness.
After that you can login and download the .pdb files for iSilo.
Please leave thanks for the hard work the brothers there do.
There are some good guides as to how to upload files to your device too.

Hi,

I already have the 2008 library installed on my HTC Evo but it does not have the Awake or Watchtower files - all other publications, brochures, NWT Bible, etc. are there. So my question is, is my copy missing files or are the magazines never included? If so, then I won't bother getting the latest 2010 (which I have on my PC anyway).

Thanks,

Sounds like you have "WTPub-EN-Extended-2008a.pdb" just a hair under 29MB. It does not include the magazines. For that you need the "Full" version which is two files.

"WTPub-EN-Full-2008a.pdb" about 162MB and the Index, "WTPub-EN-DX-2008a.pdb" about 16mb.

In English they normally release five files, the one you have, the two that make up "full" and a "basic" and "small". Recall that the project started in the days when 32MB of storage on a PDA was considered HUGE. Now of course we can put 32GB on many phones.

...not kidding. I have been looking at that URES file format for hours thinking that something looks familiar. Patrick West state that it takes hundreds of hours. Well, I have some programming skills and am willing to throw my hat in the ring! As long as the Christian Congregation continues to allow it that is. On the iOS side, I work with a couple of developers (not there yet myself). From what I have seen thus far, it seems that an Android and iOS front end would be acceptable. iOS will let you install local (non-app store). So, if there was an .APP file in the future included with the Watchtower library, it sure would save a lot of back and forth on here. :)

Let me restate. The Copyright holders, Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society Of Pennsylvania and the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society Of New York, do not allow anyone, including the WtPub folks to work directly with the PUB files on the official CD-rom. That in fact is why the folks doing the WtPub files have to spend hundreds of hours each year. They use PERL scripts to automate the use of the Watchtower Library as if a human was doing the extraction by hand.

If you have some programming skills in Android or iOS and want to help, I strongly encourage you to submit a volunteer worker application form through your local BOE. That way when the Organization decides to do something in this area they will have a pool of qualified people to draw on.

Just out of curiosity, Alex, what did you hope to accomplish with this tirade? Yeah ... there are a few hoops to go through. So what? Everyone who went through the hoops got the files. I can recall a time ... not too long ago ... when these files were not available.

At. All.

If you don't have the files, it is because you stopped too soon. If you do have the files, to quote Clare Peller, "Where's the beef?"

Think about that ... no amount of hoop-jumping, begging or conniving would put these files on any sort of device. Not a desktop, not a laptop and certainly not on a cell phone. Perhaps you were just very eager to obtain the files and frustrated at the delay. Many of us, including myself, have been waiting since the first release of the first WTLIB CD. You, on the other hand, were set back thirty minutes.

And now these fine Brothers have jumped through all but the final hoops on our behalf. It takes a BOOT LOAD of work to get these files to a condition and in a location where the rest of us can simply download them.

iSilo is FREE. The data files are FREE. So, rather than whining about needing to pay attention to what you are doing (and following the bouncing ball, step by step), why not flip one and all a few bucks via the PayPal donation buttons and reward them with a cup of honey rather than a bucket of vinegar?

I see that no one has addressed the attitude you showed. I want to assure you that I am doing so out of brotherly love for you. But that 'tude has got to go. It can't help you ... it will hurt you.

is there a way to get the WT Library on a Kindle Fire? or does everything just take a person in circles..

As long as you are looking for a download that is what will happen. The copyright owner, in its terms of use, forbids storing the files on the web. The folks who make the iSilo formatted WtPub ask folks not to store the files on the web or make them available for public download because they do not want the copyright owner to require them to stop making iSilo formatted versions.

While many who are not part of the group that creates the WtPub files have set up their own file sharing on the web it is my understanding that the only Way approved by the makers of WtPubs is to obtain a copy is to locate someone in your area with the files. **

Someone, call them Brother NewPhoneUser, will place them on the web and discover that in order to not be asked to discontinue creating these files the brothers and sisters doing so agreed to not distribute them on the internet. This brother, NewPhoneUser, will go "oops, I should not have posted them" and take them down or at least restrict access, often with in a few days of posting them, in turn you come along weeks, months or years later and you find nothing but broken links.

My advice, for what it is worth, is to start asking around locally to find someone nearby that has the files.

If you have already asked all the device users in your congregation**, ask incoming speakers if they know anyone and ask outgoing speakers to keep an eye out. Also keep an eye out at the CA, SAD and District convention. Circuit Overseers often can point you to someone in the circuit that can help.

More work that googling a download site? Yes, but the other choice is no new iSilo formatted files at all.

**And I mean really ask. I've had people in my own congregation who spent time searching the web and only after complaining to someone else that it is impossible to find the files get around to asking me.

Seriously, get over yourself and the awkward games of verifications, passwords, user names, and all of that garbage.

i can't understand why you bother then. if you dislike this so much... stay away. maybe some get a kick out of individuals like you getting wound up.
respectfully yours.

and no, i won't check what you post after this...

I want to thank everyone for all their help. I was in the process of converting the Reasoning book to epub by hand. After showing a brother at the 25% stage he showed me he already had it. He then directed me to iSilo. Praise Jehovah how abundant the table is filled. Another way to feed and spoon feed others who are too weak. I use it all the time. Nice to have a bible to whip out of my pocket and references to help me cover a subject all in the palm of my hand. Thank you again.
Feel free to encourage me in a direction where I might assist in converting. I am a novice who is willing to grow.

'Open in,' necessary for iOS transfer is not currently working. I do not use Androids so have no idea if that is still working or not. WTL must now be requested at meekspace. Other .pdb files still on the site such as WSM do not work either through any ftp I have tried. PDF and DOC files DO work as I have downloaded them with no problems.
