View Full Version : iSilo 4.05 losing catagory information

I have categorized my docs, but the settings are lost randomly. The docs will show up in the correct category, and then they are missing. Sometimes just switching from the category view to another view and back causes it to happen. When this happens, the category information is completely gone, so the docs do not even show up in Unfiled.
Anybody else having this issue?
Device is a T3.

Are the documents on a memory card? If so, has the pixel in the upper left corner stopped blinking? In other words, did you give it enough time to go through the documents on the card?

Some are on the memory card, some are on the device. No, the pixel is not blinking. Sometimes the docs on the card are not listed, sometimes the docs on the device are not listed.

Did you also try the earlier 4.05 betas? If so, the issue you are seeing may be related to corruption of the settings database from the earlier betas. You may want to try deleting the settings database so that you start fresh. Note that you will lose any categories you have set when you do this. To delete the settings database, go to the document list view's List menu, and tap Delete Special. In the Delete Special form, tap the Delete Settings Database button.

I don't know about the original poster, but I didn't participate in the 4.05 beta. I had 4.0, and didn't find out about 4.05 until after the 4.1 beta was announced (I remember seeing both on the news list when I downloaded 4.05). After I installed 4.05, all of my document categorizations were gone. The categories still existed, but all of them were empty. I re-categorized the documents, but the categories don't stick. I just went in, and all my documents are "Unfiled".
Most of my documents are on an SD card, but a couple are on the device. The files on the card are in both the Launcher folder and the iSilo folder. I'm using a Palm T3.

I just loaded the released version 4.1 and had the same problem. I went into Options - Document List and turned the Auto-cat OFF and the problem seems to be solved.

I had tried to delete the settings database from within Isilo as suggested in other posts before finding the Auto-cat setting, but the problem persisted.
I then deleted the file _iSiloDocSettingsDB_ using the File Manager of my TH55, went back and categorized all my docs and turned the Auto-cat back ON. Everything seems to be working fine now, even with Auto-cat set to ON.

I would rather NOT lose my categories.
I have MANY documents installed in MANY categories and sub-categories, and re-categorizing would take a long time.
Is there a way to categorize SEVERAL documents at a time on the Palm?

In the NEW beta 4.15beta1, the documents list shows mangled info in the right hand column of my T3:
When I set Fields to Name, I see only the doc name.
When I set Fields to Name/Date I still only see the doc name-- no date
When I set Fields to Name/Size or Name/Date/Size I see "0.:B" without the quaotes
What's THAT about?
