Have created a website, including 2Mb of images.

When I isilox it, the resulting document is 11Mb! Takes ages to hotsync. What's taking up all the space?

The website is at:

With the default image options, the images will take up a lot of the space. You can enable the lossy compression of images to significantly reduce the size.

How can the isilo image end up ten times bigger than the original!?

The size depends on how the image data is stored and what type of compression if any is applied.

Just to elaborate, there are multiple compression options for images. You probably have compression disabled. Since the images in the original document are (probably) compressed, iSilo's uncompressed versions are significantly larger.

Note that lossy compression (e.g., compression enabled and the "Lossy compression" option is set to something other than "None") is significantly slower than lossless compression as discussed here.

Good luck.

PS: I had a similar question earlier. :D

Thanks a lot, that makes sense. Will go and experiment...
