Didn't see any responses to my previous bug report, so I'll start another thread in the hope I can help other users encountering the same category bug.

As mentioned previously, deleting the settings DB within iSilo did not improve my categorization continually being lost after opening a new doc in iSilo or exiting and returning to iSilo. The settings DB was deleted several times, but the bug was repeatable 100% of the time. Got fustrated and using "FileZ" application, I deleted the iSilo settings in the saved and unsaved preferences. I also deleted the "_iSiloDocSettingsDB" file using "FileZ".

I had to reenter my registration # and all of my iSilo settings, but now my categorization consistently stays put and no more bug. Not sure what the heck was in the preference file, but that seemed to have cured it.

Hope this helps!
Cheers!
Dave

As I just suggested to another user, perhaps the conversion from the old database[1] ("_iSiloSettingsDB_") was at fault. If this is true, then it is possible that deleting this one file (in, say, FileZ) would have fixed the problem.

[1] I know you had an old database because you mention the default "Business" and "Personal" categories which are no longer created in iSilo 4.05. ;)

Actually, "Business" and "Personal" are created if you are installing iSilo 4.05 fresh. If you are upgrading, then iSilo carries over the categories you previous had, in which case, if you didn't have categories named Business and Personal, you still wouldn't have them after upgrading.

But regarding category problems in general, it is possible that if you were using the beta, and you experienced problems, your settings database may be corrupted and thus it is best to start "new" by deleting the iSilo settings database "_iSiloDocSettingsDB_".

More disinformation. I suppose I must apologize once again.

I (cleanly) installed 4.05beta2 (or thereabouts) when I got my TH-55, and I don't recall ever having to delete those categories (I certainly don't have them now). However, a quick check on 4.05RC2 reveals that iSilo does, in fact, create a couple default categories.

Oh, well. I guess it is not my day.
