Generally the .prc extension is used for Palm OS databases that are application programs, while the .pdb extension is used for Palm OS databases that contain only data.

I'm not sure why it was originally the case, but some documents that are in the Palm Doc format have the extension .prc even though they are just plain data databases.

Maybe if you let us know what the specific .prc and .pdb files are, we could properly answer your question.

You may wish to utilize a program such as FileZ (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=9992) to discover more information about the file. In particular, the file's "type" and "creator" should be useful.

Usually MobiReader ebooks uses .prc for ebooks.

Heres my 3 simple steps to convert PRC to PDB files:

1) I open the .prc ebook to iSilo for Windows,
it will display a text that resembles HTML format.

2) save the file as an html file (with .htm or .html file extension)

[OPTIONAL step] manually edit the html file to remove unnecessary headers with any text editor.

3) use IsiloX to convert the htm file to convert it to .pdb.

Remember that any image embedded in the .prc file will be lost. i havent tried figuring out how to save the images yet.
