Hi there,
I would like to start converting a lot of Word documents I have to Isilo files(with hyperlinks and all, so i convert them to webpages first using word), but most of the time I have problems with the layout once I view them on my pocket pc.
Can anyone give me some general guidelines on how my formatting of the Word webpage should be in order to have a nice readable Isilo document? I admit I don't know jack about tables and formatting of webpages, and I just started putting hyperlinks in the Word documents, but I'm willing to learn.

Also, how do you make the index, like when you click that page-like icon in isilo you see an index, no matter on what page you are?

Thanks in advance! Forgive my ignorance!

iSilo generally does a pretty good job with Word->HTML->iSilo (in my experience), but a web search revealed the following tips:

In general, just do what "makes sense". I know this can be difficult, but it comes easier with time. For example:

Use tables where tables make sense (e.g., for tabular data presentation), but avoid them for layout.
Try to use high-level representations instead of manually laying out the document (e.g., numbered lists, "true" paragraphs, headers)
Create the document using the "Web View" to get a better feel for the online layout

I'm sure there are more tips that people can add. :)

Also, how do you make the index, like when you click that page-like icon in isilo you see an index, no matter on what page you are?

The "index" feature is called "bookmarks" in the iSilo manual. See here (http://isilox.com/support/manual/iSiloX/ReferenceManual/DocumentProperties/Bookmarks.htm) for the appropriate section. iSiloX includes special support for Microsoft Word-created anchors, but I have not utilized this feature. The links I provided above appear to discuss the "optimization" of links for iSilo's use.

Good luck! I'd write more, but it's late here. :p
