View Full Version : Hide extensions just like Windows

(I can't believe I said that)
While I personally detest the behavior in Explorer (and always shut it off), I think listing of files on a card should hide the file extension (.PDB) since this is how iSilo shows files on the handheld.
Rename would not show the extension and not change the extension.

I often have catastrophic Category failures (4.05b4) and I'm wondering if there's a connection between renaming a file on a card to NOT have the extension and then moving that file back-and-forth between a card and the handheld (Palm Zire 71, OS 5.2.1).

Would you be able to provide any details on what specifically happens when you get a catastrophic Category failure? Are you using the Rename/Copy command in the document list view for renaming and copying files between the handheld and card?

"Lockup due to iSilo SD card changes"

This is a more extreme example of problems with Category. This is typical of what I do:

Copy files (Sometimes I want a file onboard; sometimes on a card. Also, QuickInstall puts files in PALM\Launcher. I don't want to spend any time creating a folder structure unless I'm sure everything that writes to Card is well behaved.)

Rename files (I hate those annoying underscores. Who puts those there? I have given up removing .PDB from files since this is an illusion as evidenced by Copy to Device followed by Copy to Card.)

Problems I have seen :
SubCategory gets duplicated as a root Category
(i.e. Media\Music becomes Media\Music AND Music)
Loss of all SubCategories
(This was accompanied by some warning so maybe my fault?)
