View Full Version : Why do document lists refresh every time?

I am trying out the new beta right now. It seems that every time I go to any of the list views, it refreshes the list anew. It takes too long-

I liked the old system of caching the list much better, with automatic and manual refreshes.

Is this going to be changed for release version?

One of the developers briefly discusses this issue in this other thread, although they don't mention if the functionality is going to change.

Manually refreshing the list might be an interesting idea. I guess the rule would be: Use the cached list unless the user manually refreshes, changes the sort order, or changes the category.

Another solution would be to organize document information by category so that it doesn't have to search the entire document list for information about "/WebSites/Daily". However, this could significantly increase the size of the iSilo document database and would result in multiple copies of the same information all over the system (which tends to result in unusual bugs).

Or they could always wait for everyone to get faster PDAs... :)

Thanks for the info.

I haven't followed the new beta too much, so much of what was in that other thread was pretty confusing. I ended up switch back to the last version with the original file system.

Although I am sure they had good reasons for revamping the system (or else they wouldn't have even tried), I don't like it so far. I think I would like it better after subdividing my files into folders within 'Palm/Programs/iSilo', and just ditch the category system altogether.

I think I would have been happy with the old system, especially if you can change the actual category that is stored in the iSilo file itself. This way category information survives hard resets, upgrades, etc.
