There are a few devices on their way to the market namely:
Meizu M8 WinCE 6.0

COMPAL UMD

http://jkkmobile.blogspot.com/2007/06/compal-umpc-windows-ce-but-with-nice-ui.html
http://aving.net/usa/Exhibition/default.asp?mode=read&c_num=49275&SP_Num=93&mn_name=exhi&BTB_Num=8799

Any hope to see iSilo being available for these in the near future?
Is there already support for WinCE 5.0?

It looks like those devices use customized versions of WinCE. It may be possible that the Handheld PC platform version may work on those devices. It is unlikely that there will be dedicated platform versions for devices with specially customized operating systems as such devices usually don't stay around long.

Not sure what you mean by "specially customized operating systems" yes the user interphase is custom on these prototypes (as on more and more mobile devices nowdays, and as on most PCs and windows laptops) but this has nothing to do with the core OS.

The question is are there plans on supporting the Windows CE 6.0 that was released in November 2006, and that has yet to make it to the market on any product? Not to be confused with the Windows CE 5.0 that dates back to 1994 and found in HPCs.

This is the newest Windows CE 6.0 upon which the Windows Mobile 7.0 is based:

Specially customized means special requirements for running on the device, including the user interface paradigm that essentially "becomes" part of the operating system on a given device.

Windows CE is at the heart of Windows Mobile devices. The current two mainstream platforms based on Windows CE are the Pocket PC and Smartphone platforms, each having specific features (requirements/specification) that an application must target in order to run properly on the device. Each device manufacturer that wants to develop a device for the Pocket PC or Smartphone platforms must adhere to those same specifications if they want third party applications designed for those platforms to run successfully on them without requiring special versions. Device manufacturers are free to individualize the user experience in ways that do not interfere with those specifications.

There are no specific plans regarding other platforms based on Windows CE, but it may be possible that the Handheld PC platform version of iSilo may already run on such devices.

The content there has a link to a history of Windows CE that is pertinent to our thread: http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/windowsce/

Yep just like shown in the wiki links posted above :)

And yes just like my posts to clearify the WM SP and Pocket PC Phone edition differences to all those with the FAQ as to which iSilo they need :)

I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of this WinCE 6.0 soon as it has its benefits over XP/Vista on UMPC type devices, one obvious being battery time.

I believe I ran accross it somewhere you can test run it under XP.

Do you think it would work for this device?

Ok thanks for the reply though, I am tempted to start testing it on some, what I really want is something with about a 7"-9" touchscreen and under 1" thick.

Btw somewhat related to this topic:

It seems like the picture is showing iSilo runing on there, right!?

..and from what I gather it should be this device
http://www.navigadget.com/index.php/2006/12/17/i-station-netforce-navi/

You can see the "i-station" and "NF.." in the Korean picture so..this would mean it COULD be possible to get it to run on "WinCE.NET 5.0" now what's with the "NET"? Can't see any reference to that here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_CE

Although this i-station device is NOT what I am looking for due to its screensize is a mere 4.3" (whereas my x51v already has 3.7") it's an interesting option if these types of devices can run iSilo.

Something like this is what I'd prefer (but def with color display):

or this:
http://www.windowsfordevices.com/news/NS4595574776.html except for the price!? http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.phtml/7428/8452/Fujitsu-Printers-Flepia-image-electronic.phtml

Basically closer to a "normal book" in size.

No it is NOT the same thing:
To understand HOW WinCE and WM are related (but NOT the same thing) please refer to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_CE

For Windows Mobile refer to this sub forum:
http://forum.isilo.com/forumdisplay.php?f=68

It appears WM6 should work
