View Full Version : Limitations of WM5 SP or iSilo SP edition?

I have been doing some custom 'homepages' on WM5 PPC devices, using
Wisbar Advance Desktop with direct linking to actual files that run in
iSilo, now this means clicking on these links actually opens THAT file,
AND iSilo.
Recently I have been working on the same for WM5 SP and while finally I
have been able to achieve the same thing by using FACADE by SBSH and
editing the xml file manually, it doesn't seem to be possible to direct
link to an actual .pdb file so that it will open the file (it merly
opens iSilo as such), do you know if this a limitation under WM5 SP, or
iSilo for SP?

Preliminary investigations indicate that this is a limitation of the Smartphone platform version.

There was a comment about this in the SBSH forums, but I think that the person replying on this thought that the shortcut did not even open the iSilo program, which it DOES.
I would have expected the third-party program to have added a registry value to associate it's file type with the program. Should be a simple matter. I'll dig around in the registry and see where this is held.
If you need/want me to test anything please let me know more than willing to try whatever you might suggest, the phone I am working on this on was purchased for testing purposes only so no prob, not worried about ANY risks! :)
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY!

Oh I forgot to mention that I was indeed able to make shortcuts for other files on the WM5 SP device, like an audio and video file, and it opens the file AND the program assosiated right away.

The support on the Windows Mobile Smartphone paltform for launching iSilo with a document open will be added in an upcoming update, possibly next month.

Fantastic!
Does an upgrade require a new license?

We are expecting to roll the change into an update to version 4.x of iSilo for Windows Mobile Smartphone, so licensed users of that product version will get the update for free.
