View Full Version : Margins

I get inconsistent views on my handheld's screen.

The text of some files ends at the right end of the handheld's screen and can be read without moving the scale (perhaps not the right word) at the bottom rightward. The text on other files is wider wider than the screen, forcing me to move the scale to the right to finishing reading each and every line.

Is there a way, in the conversion process, to ensure that the lines will break so that they don't over-run the width of the screen (to the right)? The default in Properties/Margins is now set to "Keep all left and right margins."

TIA

It is difficult to help you without an example document that demonstrates the problem.

At a guess, I would think that the documents with problems include sub-optimal table layouts. Some suggestions:

Disable table formatting from within iSilo, ("Options/Display/Layout").
Ignore table formatting from within the iSiloX document properties (in the "Tables" category)
Keep the table formatting but "Ignore Pixel Width Specifications" within the iSiloX document properties (again, in the "Tables" category)

Thanks. I'll try this. The documents I am converting are usually newspaper articles taken from a variety of sites.

Oddly enough, this problem - as well as an earlier one I posted about files marked to synch to the SD card going to the handheld instead - occur only when I save the html file to my hard disk and then convert and synch it with iSiloX. When I use the iSiloX Clipper button on my browser for the operation, the files synch to the card with the proper margins. In fact, the entire operation is much shorter that way. So I imagine I will try to use this function as much as I possibly can.

The Clipper application has initial default properties that are different than those in iSiloX. In particular, look on the Table tab of the properties dialog and compare the two.
