iSilo for Palm OS 4.05 beta1b is an interim update to beta1 that addresses the following issues:

When converting from the old database settings to the new database settings, if a document had been categorized but never opened, it would not retain its category.
When the categories are edited, the Category view may not reflect the changes.
Sending iSilo a launch command (e.g., from a launcher) may not launch the document, but instead go directly to the document list view.
On the Tungsten T3, when the screen has been expanded or previously expanded, the Font list in the Font Manager and Font Options dialogs may extend below the virtual silkscreen area if there are many fonts, making it impossible to select some fonts.
The Favorite Folders view only displays the content for one memory card.
When last leaving iSilo with a document open and then restarting iSilo, iSilo may crash or just start in the document list view.
You can download this update from the beta page (http://www.isilo.com/info/beta/index.htm).

Please report bugs found in this update to this thread.

I restored my databases to the pre-beta versions, loaded the pre-beta version of iSilo and made sure none of my catagories had / in them (which some used to). Some docs still had a 'default catagory' set to something with / in it.

I then installed the beta version B and let it read all my docs. The catagories do NOT match what was displayed in Edit Catagories in the orignal version, and most catagories do not have any documents in them (most of my docs have no catagory set when I look at them now).

It's creating catagories which look like the old default catagories for a lot of docs, but not ALL of the old ones (only the ones with / in them), but then it's not putting docs in most of those catagories.

EDIT: Hmm, just did it all again and this time it recreated all the original default catagories for all my docs and put things into them, it's really strange.

And if you go BACK to the old version after, files are still all in their correct catagories - it's perhaps like the beta isn't reading the stored DB of settings for catagories - it's ONLY reading them from the docs themselves?

I had turned my palm T|T off for 5 min or so, sitting on the listing of files in RAM. Turned it on, clicked the icon for the 1 file listed and selected Catagories from the menu. My palm immediatly reset.

I just tried copying a file from Internal memory to Memory Stick. I then tried to change the category of this file, and my TH55 locked up. Had to manually soft reset.

I'm having problems with the new extended category feature: categories won't stick, whenever I create new categories, or increase the settings size, all (in some cases just most) documents loose their category attributes, even when their categories have not changed.
Using a PalmOne T3 with DataManager patch disabled, OS updated.

I was wondering if the category list could be 480x320 compliant, given that it can get longer with the new sub-category feature. Some menus seem also to adhere with the DIA status (collapsed or not) appearing at the bottom of the screen, and others just pop up the DIA.

Also, I was wondering if the [Updated] list could include a [New] list (in the dropdown list) that would include the new hotsynched files, unread yet, in fact, that is what I thought Updated meant, until I read the help file. I think this would be useful when categories are just to full with files; with the new beta I'm also getting double entries in the categories fields (usually for items the category of which was lost for some reason, when the category was reset, they just appeared twice).
Thanks

With beta 1a, iSilo wasn't "sticky" when switching back and forth to other apps. If I was in a document and switched to another app and back: I'd be at the doc list, not where I was. This has been fixed with beta 1b. Thanks!

iSilo isn't "sticky" when switching back and forth from a document to the document list. In earlier versions of iSilo, when exiting from a document I would find myself in the document list at the position of that document. In the beta I am at the top of the document list. (I prefer the old behavior. It makes it easy to then delete the document if I'm finished with it -- or move to other nearby documents if I'm toward the end of the list.)

With the last iSilo up and down on the navigator button (I have T|T3) moved the document list up and down one page; left and right moved the selector up and down one title; the center button acted on the document (typically opening it). This was great for one-handed closed-slider navigation.

The new behavior, which I won't describe in detail eliminated one-handed page movements. Although this may be a matter of preference, I'd consider it a bug.

In the last iSilo, it would "remember" font settings and position in the document, even after a document was updated/overwritten with a document of the same name.

I found this a very nice behavior, as I read many weblogs that I update daily. Having font and position "sticky" I would always open the document at just the right spot and see it customized for best appearance.

With the current beta I need to reset the font and move to the right position every time I update a document. Although this behavior may be intended, I'd consider it a bug.

iSilo new beta crashes when opening a deleted doc that still shows in the list, then you cannot start isilo, since it always wants to open an inexistent document!!

Text lines are cut when scrolling a doc (hard buttons, full screen).

Document lists are unresponsive to letter scrolling, ie, type F to go to the first doc starting with letter F, etc.

Slow redraws (overclocked T3: 588 Mhz!!)

Thanks

Using the latest Beta, my category information keeps disappearing. I am using a T3 and all my iSilo files are on an expansion card either in the Launcher or iSilo folders.

I categorize my files and for the current iSilo session everything is OK. However, at random all my files lose their category assignments. This doesn't seem to be related to Hotsyncing and I can't pin down an exact action that makes this happen.

Sometimes when I start iSilo the files ar correctly cateorized and the next time they have lost all their category assignments.

Ian.

Hi,
Beta 2 looks better, no problem with categories, lines are not cut when browsing (well, they are, but then they appear on the following page, good enough!).

But I recently had to reformat my SD card (a cheap card reader wouldn't read SD cards formated in my TungstenT3), and copied all my isilo files from a backup in my PC (yeah, I'm getting wiser!). Since I had to recategorise all my files, I still consider there should be a better way to do it... Why don't you add an optional check mark and enable categories, delete in all selected files?

It is great go categorise when you make the clippings, I have subcategories and it works great, but when it comes to a lot of clippings, then it is a pain in the palm!

thanks,
Alex
