THis should be an easy question for somebody. How do I convert rss feeds?
as an example http://www.psycport.com/siteware/rssfeed.xml
the contend is some fomr of HTML:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?>
- <rss version="2.0" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:sy="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/syndication/"
etc. Is it possible for iSiloX to work with this type of site?
Thanks.

You use iSiloX to convert RSS feeds the same way you use it to convert HTML web pages. You specify the URL for the RSS feed (e.g., http://www.psycport.com/siteware/rssfeed.xml) as the source in the same way. For RSS content, iSiloX generates an index page in the document and follows the links in the RSS feed to also bring in the linked content of the feed (assuming you have specified a maximum link depth of at least one).

Thanks for the reply.
This does not seem to be effect I'm getting though.... With the psychport example, iX converts it to and iSilo book, but the page appears the same as it does in internet explorer --- that is, it shows the HTML (or XML .... whatever that stuff is). I must be doing something wrong, I just don't know what.... Thanks for your patience. :)

Which version of iSiloX are you using? RSS support was added as of version 4.2, so if you are using an older version, try downloading and installing the latest version.

I used to be able to import dozens of different RSS feeds into iSiloX. About 2 -3 months ago I got a new computer and installed a new copy of iSiloX. When I did that, it broke all RSS functionality. I get the same result as the original poster of this thread.
I think I tried to go back to an older version, but could not find one to try.

Which version of iSiloX do you have installed as shown when you select "About iSiloX" from the Help menu?
Also, could you please provide the URL of one the RSS feeds that you are trying to convert?

I am using the latest verion of iSiloX (4.32) and I swear that I was having problems with every feed. I just looked again (having turned off the auto feature a long time ago) and some seem to be working. Then again, most of the ones that did work, are still not working. For example, these do not work:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/boingboing/iBag
http://arstechnica.com/index.ars/rss
http://www.csmonitor.com/rss/top.rss
http://www.slate.com/rss/
http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.rssx
But these seem to work, or at least they download more than 2-8K
http://www.sciam.com/news_directory.cfm
http://www.mobileread.com/avantgo/mobileread_mobile.html (admittedly, it says html, so it ought to work)

Trying just the iBag and the arstechnica feeds, both appear to work.
It may be that you may have one or more old versions of files comprising iSiloX. Perhaps you installed iSiloX while a scheduled conversion was happening in the background.
Try reinstalling iSiloX 4.32, first making sure that there are no scheduled conversions occuring.

I removed and reinstalled iSiloX twice and it still does not work the way it used to work on my previous machine. yes, it does pull some data, but it only pulls one level and it only shows text - it does not follow any links or interpret any of the HTML/XML stuff. Files that used to be over 500k are now less than 10k.
The second time I removed iSiloX I removed all settings and even deleted anything in the registry that still said iSiloX. I created a new list of RSS feeds and re-entered the URLs that you tested. Still it does not work.
I'll try to attach a couple examples of the output....

Internally, when iSiloX converts an RSS feed, it interprets the RSS XML data and generates a temporary HTML page based on that data and then converts that generated HTML. It looks like what you have in those failed conversions is that generated HTML which for whatever reason is not being correctly interpreted as HTML. Check to make sure you have plenty of space on your C drive, which is the default drive that Windows sets up for temporary files.

There are 27 gigabytes free on my C drive...
Is it a permissions thing? Probably not. I have admin permissions. Is something configured incorrectly? (FWIW, it is Windows XP SP2 4.17, though it did not work with SP1 either on this computer)

If you convert just one of the feeds that appears to not convert correctly, does it convert correctly? If so, then there may be a bug that manifests itself when you convert the entire set.

I don't think so...
While I used to convert them all at once (or automated), during my recent testing I was converting them once at a time. I also had a set with just one feed, and it also did not convert correctly.
