Are there guidlines out there on how to optimise html pages for viewing in isilo? Some of my pages do not show background colours properly, and text sizes can all end up the same.

Unfortunately there are no written guidelines available. But you should try to keep things simple.
What specifically are you trying to do with background colors? Maybe you can provide some specific examples of what you are trying to do and how you are trying to do it.
With regard to font sizes, on Palm OS devices with only the standard and large fonts, the following is the default mapping assuming that the current display options have the font set to standard and relative mode:
standard: If the font size is less than 14pt.
large: If the font size is 14pt or greater.
On Palm OS® 5 and Palm OS® 4 devices with high-density screens, Sony CLIÉ devices with high resolution screens, and the HandEra™ 330, four font sizes are available: tiny, small, standard, and large. The following is the default mapping assuming that the current display options have the font set to standard and relative mode:
tiny: If the font size is less than 9pt.
small: If the font size is at least 9pt but less than 12pt.
standard: If the font size is at least 12pt but less than 14pt.
large: If the font size is 14pt or greater.
On platforms with scalable fonts such as Windows, Pocket PC, and Windows CE Handheld PC, the actual point sizes are used.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I want to have a "palm" stylesheet that I can link to so that after conversion the different headings stand out, and it's clear which are the main headings and which the subheadings, without taking up huge amounts of screen space.
So far I have been using big font sizes (16, 18) and setting different background-color and color for each header. Looks like I need to stay under 14 pt except for the main heading.
Are the isilo colours the same as "websafe" colours?

If iSiloX does not currently support media types (http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/media.html), perhaps it could support them in the future. I am not sure how popular this feature is, but there have been a few situations where I would have appreciated the capability.

On older devices with 8-bit color, such as the Palm IIIc, the colors are the websafe colors. All newer colors devices have 16-bit color.
