View Full Version : Firefox/IE Tab: Right Click Clipper

I am using the IE Tab for firefox and noticed that the right click menu from IE is active in the IE Tab in firefox. The IE Tab that I am using simply converts any open web page in firefox to an IE tab without leaving firefox. The converted tab seems to be a full IE page in a firefox tab. The "Tools" menu from IE is not available in this tab, but the right click menu in the IE tab is the right click menu from IE. If it were possible to place an iSiloX clipper command in the IE right click menu then it seems that it would be possible to use the iSiloX clipper from within firefox.
I know that there have been some threads addressing this issue but I wanted to isolate this request because it seems like a manageble option for firefox users without having to really do any coding for firefox. This is really a request for a right click command option within IE.
I was actually suprised to find that there was not a right click command option for the clipper in IE because I thought that this was how I used to innitiate a conversion. Apparently not though.

I concur. Firefox has somewhere around 10 and 15% of the browser market now. As a registered iSilo user, I've been without its browser integration for a long time now. I think that this suggestion would be the simplest implementation, although a Firefox extention would be ideal.

O.T.(off topic) Hey Tanker Bob, I haven't "seen" you in while. Suprised to see you here, I haven't even had iSilo on my machines lately, but was missing too many readings ie Richard Baxter, John Wesley, and much more from ccel.org...
O.T. (on topic :) I've got to admit that after configuring firefox with Session Manager (Opera), IE Tab, No Script (java whitelist extension), and Ad Block with the Adblock filter list I have been both IEless (save with iSilo) and OperaLess. I'm glad to here that FireFox is gaining momentum. I think that if FF did some distributions with already configured extensions and set ups that it would gain even more share from the "I don't want to mess with extensions" crowd.

Hi Kenny,
Thanks for your note! Life's been busy and haven't had much forum time for a while. Haven't even messed with my website much this summer. Couldn't live without iSilo on my X50v, though, and try to keep my copy up to date. I must keep Calvin and the Westminster Divines close at hand! I just refreshed my BCO with iSiloX the other day. I love these products and the great support behind them.
I went exclusively Firefox with the 1.5 release and haven't looked back. I use pretty much the same controls you listed, which has kept me safe without much hassle. There was a pretty good interview I saw yesterday with one of FF's creators, and he discussed the distribution issue a bit. Corporate distributions with remotely enforceable security policies don't seem like they are in the cards at this point, which will limit corporate use. Distributing extensions seems to violate existing agreements. Oh well.
I've been cutting and pasting addresses from FF to iSiloX for quite a while now. I really do miss the ease of the iSiloX clipper, but I think that this idea on the right-click menu in IE Tab will fill the bill nicely. It should be easy enough to program as it's an IE feature, not a dedicated FF effort.
I guess that some of this was on topic. ;)

I feel like I may have posted in the wrong section. I was hoping to get some response from the developers. Can the mod move this thread to a more appropriate location?
