Is there any plan to add support for RSS feeds directly in iSiloX?
Thanks,

I second that! Great idea both for existing users AS WELL AS ATTRACTING NEW USERS who might otherwise buy a RSS application. The big advantage that iSilo/X potentially offers is integrating traditional html sites with RSS feeds into a single user interface. Also it occurs to me that html-based off-line readers are increasingly "under attack" from RSS-based off-line readers - from a market retention perspective it also makes a lot of sense to add RSS-reading capability.

in the meantime, I just found this link - http://www.mobilerss.net which enables you to build your own web-based rss "repository".
But the more i think about it the more I think that an RSS conversion capacity in iSiloX/XC makes so much sense. It seems to me a relatively small amount of coding & doesn't require any changes at the iSilo end. It leverages the best-of-breed reader that has already been developed. It makes sense in terms of an effective response against the increasing number of RSS applications & feeds. It's another opportunity to get the iSilo name out into the market. There is heaps of potential for iSilo to gain significantly more market penetration than it has to date. Check this thread out on ppct - http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25017. 2 key points - i) number of people still using Avantgo, but whom are dissatisfied with it (ii) iSilo recognition in this thread is very low - only one post, which is mine. Given the significant superiority of iSilo in off-line reading I would have expected heaps more people to be singing delightedly about how their old Avantgo/Mazingo days are a distant memory since they bought iSilo.
RSS is hot! iSilo Reader is the best reader by a long long way. iSiloX/XC is the strongest html converter on the market. iSilo's market penetration has significant room for growth. I think RSS conversion capability added to iSiloX is a great opportunity to bring in new users & delight & retain the existing ones.

PS. I also reckon that a bit of advertising (say on Pocket PC Thoughts) would pay itself back many fold.

Just one more voice supporting RSS support.
(If a sense of competition helps: I was just reading a news story that indicated that Plucker is tooling up RSS support.)

Is there an update on plans to support RSS feeds?
The free open-source software called JPluckX supports RSS feeds.
http://jpluck.sourceforge.net
It would be great to see RSS in iSiloX.

I find myself using Plucker more as JPluck X supports RSS. (Still several iSilo-specific documents I use, though!)
The other thing JPluck has is ability to simply point to Mozilla/Firebird's cookies files (maybe IE's, too?), so after simply visiting a given site, that site can be pulled by JPluck X!
These would be great additions to iSilo (which is generally more flexible and which is less resource-intensive than Jpluck X)!

I see that V4.2 b1 of iSiloX has RSS support, but for the life of me I can't not figure out how to make it work, anybody got any suggestions?
thx

Simply add the RSS URL as the document source.
For example, use:
http://slashdot.org/index.rss
Instead of the old method:
http://slashdot.org
You can usually get the RSS URL by right-clicking the link and choosing one of the copy options.

Thanks Spike
I guess my problem was I was using the IE integration (clipper) and it was not doing it so I thought I was missing something, putting the slashdot example in iSiloX desktop works fine, thanks again for the help!!
