Handheld: Plam T|X with Transcend 4GB SD-Card, iSilo 4.32
PC: Windows XP Prof. SP2, iSiloX 4.32, HotSync Manager 6.0.1, iSiloX-Conduit 4.3.2.1

Problem: Synchronizing one specific iSilo document to SD-Card fails with the HotSync following message:

iSilo: Write to external media failed:[unknown error]
Source: C:\Palm\RemusJ\iSiloI\mathaeser Kinoprogramm.pdb
Destination: /Palm/Programs/iSilo/mathaeser Kinoprogramm.pdb

Previous iSilo documents synchronize without error, following documents fail with the same message. Deleting this iSilo document from the iSiloX-Conduit folder allows next HotSync to succeed without error.

CHKDSK of the SD-Card does not show any error.

Putting the "bad" document back to the iSiloX-Conduit folder leads to the error message as above.

The document gets created every wendsday using the iSiloX scheduling function and leads to this problem.
Re-creating the document manually using iSiloX (no scheduled conversion) leads to a file of the same size as the "bad" one, but syncronizes without problem.

I can reproduce the synchronisation problem using these two files. The "bad" one will hang the HotSync process and fail with the message above, the "good" one will synchronize ok.

I have uploaded the "bad" and the "good" document with the corresponding iSiloX-ixl here: http://www.no-nonsense.de/misc/iSilo/mathaeser Kinoprogramm.zip.

Thanks in advance,
Jens Remus

Both files appear good. On preliminary investigation, this may be a problem involving how the iSilo install conduit sees the internal storage of the device and the memory card.

On the Destination tab of the Properties dialog for the entry you created for the scheduled conversion, try specifying an exact destination path by right-clicking the destination and clicking Path. In the Edit Destination Path dialog, enter /[Volume name]/Palm/Programs/iSilo/, replacing [Volume name] with the volume name of your SD card. Click OK to return to the Properties dialog, then OK to save the changed Properties.

But then why do all other scheduled documents sync without problem? And why does the manually created version sync without problem? Both were created using the same ixl.

The Path shown in the HotSync-Logfile is correct: "/Palm/Programs/iSilo/mathaeser Kinoprogramm.pdb".

Couldn't you reproduce the problem synchonizing the bad file by copying it into "...[Palm]\[HotSyncName]\IsiloI\"?

On the Destination tab of the Properties dialog for the entry you created for the scheduled conversion, try specifying an exact destination path by right-clicking the destination and clicking Path.

Are these settings stored in the created PDB and transferred to the Palm or is this stripped by the iSiloX-Conduit?

Is this information different in the bad / good file?
