Hi There,
Does the existence of this forum mean that iSilo has support for Arabic content? Supporting a right to left language like Persian, Arabic or Hebrew needs more than just a new font. If not, is there any plan to add this feature?
Thanks,
Roozbeh/

There is currently no direct support for the display of Arabic or any other right-to-left languages. There are no immediate plans on adding such support, but hopefully there will be at some time in the future.
This forum was put in place to provide a common location for those who are interested in using iSilo to view Arabic to share any knowledge they may have in getting it to work.

Having no official support by iSilo for Arabic doesn't mean that iSilo cannot be used for converting Arabic HTML or txt files to iSilo files (for Palm at least). I had the chance to test iSilo, and found it satisfying. Most of the display problems are caused by the Arabic support programs for Palm (I mean the well known programs APOS and PiLoc). Generally speaking, iSilo is fine for Arabic.
Please tell us how to convert with arabic/persian texts. I have tried to set the language in iSiloX to "Arabic (Windows-1256)" but it doesn't work. I understand that you don't "support" this but just give a tip...

Hello dr_a
Go to http://forum.isilo.com/showthread.php?t=212 and follow the instructions. Replace "Hebrew" with "Arabic," because the same tricks apply.

the isilo works perfect with arabic documents especially with PDAs,
i usually search for words in arabic and had no problem.
but i believe there is a difficulty in search option in the windows 5.0 version where the search engine can not read the arabic text and give 0 results for the searching word.
the english language is perfect on windows 5.0.
could you tell me why there is a difference? searching arabic text in windows 2003 is fine but not the new windows 5.o!!

iSilo uses the transcoding capabilities of the underlying operating system to transcode between the document character set and the user interface character set, so it is probably the case that there was specific transcoding support for Arabic on one of your PDAs but not the newer one.
