Hi, iSilo 4.29 keeps crashing on my Dell Axim 51v. It does not matter what the document is, but whenever the system auto powers off, when I power it back up I get the standard this program has encountered an error, and the send a error report to MS.
Is a shame, as I have been using iSilo on my Palm forever and until I can work out what is causing this I will have to keep using that for iSilo docs, rather than my shiny new Pocket PC :(

We haven't encountered any problems on an Axim X51v.
If you manually power off the device with a document open and then power back on, does the problem also occur?

Unfortunately yes, I thought I had fixed it by installing on the device rather than on the SD card, in this case it does not have a problem when I power it down, but when it suspends itself via power saving it still occurs :(
Just my luck if I have a iffy Axim that the only app that doesnt want to work is my most used one :(

Aha I seem to have made progress, it only seems to happen when I have a document open that is stored on an SD Card, have tried with two different cards, and a variety of documents, and it only seems to happen when reading from SD Card, I do not have any CF cards to test with unfortunately.
Not a problem for me as I can always move the document I am reading to the device and back again when I am not reading it.

We have tried with files on SD as well as CF cards on the X51v and when the device auto powers off with iSilo and a document open and we power back on, it works fine.

Very odd, must just be me :D only other possibility is it could be something in the update that Dell released. Oh well, doesnt bother me at the moment, I am more than happy to copy the file I am currently working with to the device before I use it, it isnt really that much of a bother, and I hope the steps I have taken may help any others that encounter the same problem.
Thank you for all of your efforts in helping, and for of course releasing a great product.
I hope you all have a nice Christmas and new year,
Joe
I thought i was the only one with this problem. ISilo also crasses on my Dell Axim X51 if left running when the divice is turned off. I am not able to put the files on to the device, they are to larg. Any more info? Thanx

I have a similar problem when running 4.29 and 4.30 on a captioned device.
My files are always > 10M in size, and I have to put them onto SD.
Start reading is no problem. With Isilo and doc open while I turn off the power, 1 out of 3 times I power up again, Isilo hangs - screen up / down not OK, no response at all, but I can press <Start> to trigger other program or go to <TODAY>.
Strange... Any hint to resolve it is most appreciated.
thanks,

I do not know why the Isilo people cannot reproduce this problem. I installed many programs when I updated my Dell to the Axim X51v, and have deducted that this is absolultly the program that forces me to soft reset- though sporatically. I hope they solve this soon! :

I also have the same problem. It hangs up when the 51v is turn on and doc on the card was open. There is no problem when the opened doc is on memory.

I would turn off error reporting. Several programs seem to run better with it off. I don't know how much of a help this would be in your specific case as I don't have any hangups on my x51v with iSilo 4.3 installed on the SD card.

In may case, the problem appears when I open a doc that is on the sd card. I didn't try with ISilo installed on the card, but I guess the problem will remain.
Please, try opening a doc that is on the sd card.
Then, with the doc opened turn off the 51v, and then turn it on again.
If you don't have the problem, perhaps I may try installing ISilo on the SD card.

I have no problems opening or viewing docs from either my SD card or internal memory with version 4.3 installed to my SD card. I do have a problem with iSilo completely closing, not just minimizing, though whenever my ppc shuts down. I found this problem was fixed by installing iSilo to my internal memory. With iSilo now running from internal memory, once again I have no problems opening / viewing files. It would be nice though if the next version of iSilo addressed this bug, and let me install iSilo to my SD card without shutting down all the time.
Back to the matter at hand, I have not had any problems such as are described in this thread under my operating conditions.

I have.
I have Dell axim X51v (A12 rom), and have tried all versions of isilo through version 5. All versions do the same thing. When reading a document on SD card, then power off (auto or manual), isilo crashes out to today screen. Very frustrating...
My documents are all several megabytes, so putting them on the device is not feasible.
Please isilo peeps - give us a workaround!
