Applying security after conversion

Is it possible to apply security settings to a document after conversion? We are looking to distribute a large document to several users which are locked to the user and expires after a set date. The document takes a long time to convert and it will be time/processor-consuming to make a new conversion for each user. Is it possible to convert once and apply security settings for different user ids on the converted document?

Yes, that is possible. All you need to do is use registration codes. You convert the document once with a given document ID. Then with that document ID, you can generate individual registration codes that are keyed to that document ID, individual user IDs, and expiration dates.
