It would be nice if iSilo accomodated the ability for users to directly access a specific iSilo document from the PDA's "desktop" (instead of opening into the document list view). Along with this, the ability for publishers to attach an icon to a document that could directly open that document from the desktop would be nice.

Indeed, this would be a great feature !

Try a 3rd party launcher. I use LauncherX, which shows all documents as well as applications. Just tap the doc you want and you're there. http://www.launcherx.com/

To take this concept a bit further for developers :
Create an SDK to integrate isilo document formatting view into other palm applications.
and/or
Create a redistribution kit, which could bundle a single isilo document, reader into a PRC with a custom icon.

I, too, use LauncherX, but the problem is if you use documents so large they must be on the external card. That's because LauncherX still must copy such a file to RAM before launching it with iSilo.

So I have a 6MB file on the card, and I click it-->I wait for the entire file to be copied to RAM before I can use it! (When iSilo could already read it from the card!)

The flip side of this problem is if I just want quick access to a tiny reference document: if the last document iSilo loaded was some big file, I have to wait for that file to re-load, then tell iSilo to close and wait for that, then find and select the file I want and wait for *it* to load!

Granted, this takes increasingly less periods of time with newer PDAs, but it's still so unnecessary!

An idea I have: give us a little stub of a program called "iSilo Library" that, when launched, directly opens the file list (rather than first loading the previous document, etc). In fact, I think I will recommend this specifically :)
