When the power turns off automatically (through inactivity), and I turn the power back on, I find the silk-screen area in place. There is no option to remove it--as though the program didn't support the full screen. The program window is not changed to accomodate 320x320; buttons are covered up by the silk screen. To restore functionality, I have to access the context menu or toggle full screen mode. This only happens in iSilo, and Its only been happening for about a week.

Any ideas???

On my lifedrive I don't have this issue.

However, I make nightly automated backups and the backup tool switches the device off after the backup process.
When I turn on the device in the morning, iSilo looks like in 320x320 mode, but the graffiti area is just plain white (I left the device in 320x480 mode in the evening before the backup).

Maybe you have installed a program that becomes active during the 'switch off' event of the PalmOS?
