Hi, yor software Isilo for S60 is great indeed!
I was waiting for the S60 release and now I'm glad I can view all the isilo docs on cellphone!!

Since my father is blind this would be an invaluable tool for him to permit him to read documents. But, I've noticed that this release does not give accessibility to the S60 screen-reader: TALKS (the only available for S60)

I hope someone of the Isilo Team or programmer can do something about it...
maybe just run some testing with Isilo and Talks together, and then fine-tune the Isilo output of the text (maybe release an accessibility patch) giving accessibility to TALKS!

That would be GREAT!!! (also to non-impaired users) imagine your S60 cellphone reading e-books aloud!!

helpful notes /hints :
1-a demo version of TALKS for S60 can be freely downloaded from the web
2-TALKS is able to interpret the screen content of (and successfully read) of the internal S60 Notepad, of IGO Office Word, and I think also Opera S60 (but this was not tested yet) // It cannot read the output of:
Alex Zavorine's Readm.

Thank You in advance
Simon :D :D :D

Most screen readers work by accessing the text of standard user interface controls, which is presumably the way the program you mention works. Unfortunately, there is no standard user interface control that would be able to display iSilo content because the content has to be custom drawn so it does not look like it will be possible to use a screen reader with iSilo without some custom development.

hope someone can make that custom development...
I'm no programmer myself, but I can manage to handle some Visual basic lines... (with some help...) :o

thx

Please PLEASE make this custom patch (correct the custom drawing)!

Thousands and thousands of BLIND USERS will be eternally GRATEFUL to YOU if make that small patch available!!!

How many S60 devices are out there?! How many blind (or visually impaired) users.... !!! Imagine giving them the possibility of carrying around e-books and READ them aloud !!! -INVALUABLE-

PLEASE! YOU HAVE TO MAKE THIS SMALL PATCH FOR THEM!!!

For example, my father himself is blind, if you render Isilo compatible with this "standard user interface control" he can make the cell read for him: archives, encyclopedias, hypertexts!!! Isilo is great for handle information /text in any form!!! (With little little effort you can make Isilo just the GREATEST for any purpose!!!)

Hints:

1-maybe u can backup/pack the "custum draw" with also a parallel standard user interface (like emulating it) just for the purpose of "giving/delivering the text" to screen reader TALKS (the only one available for S60)

2-maybe u can in an one "blind version Isilo" just WIPE OUT custum draw and use standard one!

3-Come on, standard visualization routines ought to be available pre-made easy, just search the web, and copy/paste it inside (along with custom draw if u prefer) !! :)

I HAVE THE UTMOST TRUST IN ISILO TEAM!! I'M SURE YOU CAN SUCCESSFULLY DO IT WITH MINIMAL EFFORT!!

PLEASE DO IT!!! PLEASE, PLEASE.

many Thanks in advance
Simon ;)

I think you misunderstand. The custom drawing is necessary to render the iSilo content and to support the specific features of iSilo documents.

Adding support for TALKs may require a considerable amount of rework of a good part of the application. However, speech support in one form or another is under consideration for the future and specific support for TALKs will be considered as well.

If you make it, I will tell thousands of blind users to purchase ISILO for use in combination with the screen reader TALKS (a large majority of them use it right now on their nokia 6600 or other s60 device)!!

they could use it to read text of all sort!!!!

and you will have thousands+thousands more customers buying Isilo in the world!
