After I uninstalled 4.27, I am no longer able to sync my PDA with the desktop.

After some investigation for such a wierd behavior, I found that ActiveSync now needed the iSiloDvS.dll file in order to sync. It seems this file is doing more than just support iSilo, it generates a lot of activity during when I sych my PDA with the desktop.

My question is what is iSiloDvs.dll doing and why ActiveSync become dependent on the file now????

Thanks

iSiloDvS.dll is the component of iSilo on the device that communicates with a corresponding component of iSiloX during ActiveSync to transfer documents that you convert with iSiloX from the desktop to the device.

It seems that when you uninstall iSilo, the uninstall sometimes does not remove the registry entries that tell ActiveSync about iSiloDvs.dll, which results in the problem you mention. To solve this problem, you need to manually delete the registry entry on your Pocket PC device at "HKLM\Windows CE Services\Synchronization\Objects\iSiloDocument". If you need a registry editor for your device, one free one is PHM Registry Editor (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/).
