View Full Version : speed when turn page
I'm a Chinese.I install isilo on my nokia 6670.When I read English file,it works well. But when I read Chinese file, turning page is very slow.
I wish you can improve the software and let it work well with Chinese.
I love this software.

If you converted the document yourself, can you reconvert with the output encoding set to Unicode (UTF-8)? In iSiloX, to set the output encoding for an entry do this:
1. Go to the Properties for the entry
2. In the Properties dialog, click the Document tab
3. On the Document tab, click the Text Encoding Options button at the bottom
4. In the Text Encoding dialog, for the "Output document text encoding" field, set it to Unicode (UTF-8).
5. Click OK to the dialogs and then reconvert.
Please try the updated file and let us know if it is any better.
Thank you for your answer.I follow you and it is useful. But it seems that I can't convert text file.I convert html file, and it is ok.But when I convert text file, the converted file is full of wrong character(not Chinese or English)
I change the text file's encoding to UTF8 ,and convert again, but it is not useful.

By your response, I assume that setting the output encoding to Unicode (UTF-8) sped up viewing of the document. Please correct me if that is not the case.
Regarding the text file, you will also need to set the input encoding. In the "Text Encoding" dialog, you will need to set the field that says "For source files that do not specify their encoding, assume the following encoding:" to whatever encoding the text file uses. For example, for Chinese, it is probably one of Chinese Simplified (GB18030), Chinese Simplified (GB2312), or Chinese Traditional (Big5).
The problem is solved. But I want to know why I change the encoding and it sped up viewing of the document.

The Symbian OS natively uses Unicode, so it must be the case that transcoding (e.g., GB2312 to Unicode) is what is causing the slowness on the device.
