View Full Version : Columns merge in iSiloX.

I've converted this (http://outpostnine.com/editorials/teacher.html) site recently (the funniest in the world, incidentally.) I'm including the .PDB for your perusal.
I had one problem with the iSilo doc, though. On the website, he separates the events into columns and it's meant to be read down the columns, but after being iSilo'd the columns were combined into one. There's no problem if you read through the article and click the hyperlink for the next article (genius how he's labelled the previous and next), but if you expect to use a button configuration to skip to the next page, it's not the same article. It's the article directly across in the next column.
Any suggestions to how this can be rectified?

It sounds like you may have disabled table layout in iSilo. When table layout is disabled, each cell of the table gets placed on a new line, left-to-right, top-to-bottom order. Try Options/Display/Layout/Enable table layout.

I did have "Table Formatting" off in iSilo, and turning it on does indeed restore the look of the first page with the 2 columns. The bigger question remains, however, and that is that the links at the bottom of each page point to the either the previous or next article in the series, but the way iSiloX has integrated the 2 columns from the first page so that the series reads logically on the odd pages and then the even pages instead of sequentially.
I'm used to moving my analog button on my Zodiac2 to the right to signify 'Next Page", but that takes me to the article directly across the columns horizontally. If you look at the first page of the website, you'll see that the stories are in the 2 columns and that sequentially they are dated to reveal their reading pattern as it continues down the first column and then down the second column.
It's probably a function of how the webmaster designed the site, and that's why when the pages are iSiloX'd they integrate the 2 columns. Am I right, or is there an iSiloX setting that will rectify the situation? I have no problem with pressing on the links at the end of each article to get to the next article in the sequence , but I'm just lazy and prefer my assigned analog stick directions.

iSiloX add links to its list of links to follow in the order in which it encounters them. So if you look at the way the cells of a table are written in HTML, you will see that the order of the cells is in the same order as if you go from left to right and top to bottom in the table. There is no automated way in iSiloX to change this. You would need to add the links manually one by one in the order that you want them.
