View Full Version : Certain .GIFs do not convert in RSS feeds.

Most of my RSS conversions have a little .GIF on their RSS homepage, but for some of them don't convert into iSilo and instead there's an HTML link in it's place.

Is this a situation where iSiloX cannot handle the .GIF, or an issue with the .GIF itself, or an issue where iSilo (for Palm OS) cannot handle the certain converted .GIFs?

Thought you might like to know.

Can you provide an example site that exhibits this behavior?

Here are some of the non-converting .GIF's:

http://www.appleinsider.com/appleinsider.rss
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/rss/nba/news
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/rss/nfl/news
http://www.insanely-great.com/igmtop.rss
http://www.macosxhints.com/backend/geeklog.rdf
http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories (Actually all of the Yahoo! RSS feeds have the same no-.GIF behavior. I have several of them in the same document and they all exhibit the behavior.)

I hope this helps in the investigation.
Thanks.

Thanks for the details. It turns out that it is a bug with iSiloX when it encounters the lastBuildDate element in the RSS. It then incorrectly parses what follows, resulting in the problem you saw.

There is now a fix for this issue in the new updated beta. You can find the beta here (http://www.iSilo.com/info/beta/index.htm).

The problem is as if it never were. Thanks for addressing the issue so quickly.
